Neighborhood Boundary Policies

All children enrolled in our neighborhood program must abide by the CPS attendance boundary policy. This policy is of particular importance to Skinner West, as our neighborhood population is growing and the school has quickly run out of space. Details found here.

Minimum Health Requirements

If your child is entering preschool, kindergarten, 6th grade or you are entering a Illinois school for the first time, you must submit proof of immunizations and health exams to Skinner West. Complete details can be found here  or on the CPS Website  

Skinner Newsletter

One of the main methods of communicating to our parents about weekly activities and updates is through our email newsletter: the Skinner Week-at-a-Glance Newsletter. Emailed to you once-a-week every Thursday evening, the newsletter provides reminders of key dates and events in the upcoming week, classroom information, fundraisers and activities through the school.  Tto sign up for these newsletters, please enter your email address(es) on the left side of the home page.  

School Fees

School fees can be paid the first day of school, via a check or cash made payable to "Skinner West" and dropped off with your teacher. Find a complete list here of fees for each grade.

School Supply Lists

School supply lists can be found here for each grade.School supplies can be brought in the first day of school to your child's classroom. Please remember that each student should also donate ancillary and art supplies 

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures

Drop off is on Monroe Street to the north side of the building, and pick-up is on Adams Street on the south of the building. Detailed information can be found here.

Get Involved: Room Parents & Other Volunteer Opportunities

Room parents are volunteers representing a classroom from K- 8th grade and for ancillary classes:  library, art, science and foreign language.  If you're interested in being a room parent or co-parent coordinator, please contact Kavita Rao at
