8th Grade Trip to Washington D.C.

The 8th graders continued their yearly trip to Washington D.C. and had a wonderful time with teachers and parent chaperones.

6th Grade Trip to Madison, WI Neon

On May 30th & 31st, Skinner sixth graders visited sites in and around Madison, Wisconsin. The trip began at Frank Lloyd Wright's school and estate at Taliesin in Spring Green. Students were guided by expert docents who helped us see the ways in which Wright was inspired by nature as he created his groundbreaking architectural designs. Next, we enjoyed the sunny weather and saw many flowers in bloom at the Olbrich Botanical Gardens. The following day began with a visit to the Cave of the Mounds, a National Natural Landmark. While exploring the limestone cave underground, we saw stalactites and stalagmites that have been growing for thousands of years. We concluded our trip with a guided tour at Chazen Museum of Art on UW-Madison's campus.

We are grateful to our wonderful parent chaperones for coming along. This trip was a perfect way to end a fantastic sixth grade year!

Skinner Dance Performance

The Skinner dance team performed another amazing show for parents and the Skinner community! Led by Ms Dandridge, these 5th -8th graders beautifully danced lyrical, hiphop, jazz, ballet, and pom.

Transferring or Moving?

Are you moving or will not be returning to Skinner next year? If so, please fill out a transfer request/notification form and send it to the main office or to your child's teacher as soon as possible.

Transfers will be issued during the last week of school.

Special Olympics

This year as a part of the "I Can Do It" Program, we were able to pair Skinner 8th graders as student mentors for the Special Olympic Games. These mentors helped to train our athletes during training sessions and got to attend the games as well. We want to congratulate both our athletes and their mentors on a job well done!

First Grade Dance Recital

Congratulations to our first graders (Mrs. Rupp, Schaff, Martin and Salameda) who performed a dance recital for parents this week. Dances performed included: Merengue, Waltz, Charleston, and Tango. Thank you to our dance instructors & Gallery 111 for making this program possible!

A spring concert for parents and the Skinner community will be held Thursday June 13, 2019 at 9:45 a.m. in the gymnasium.

Classes performing include: Pre-K, 2nd, 4th, 5th Yellow, 5th Purple, 237,

7th grades & the Skinner West Glee Club! All are welcome.

School Supplies for the 2019/20 school year

Friends of Skinner West is again partnering with Yubbler to make shopping for school supplies easier for you while earning money for our school. Last year we raised over $2000 just from parents ordering their school supplies through Yubbler.

School supply lists on the Yubbler website will be updated by the end of June, so check back then to start ordering your supplies. Thank you for your support!

Art Competition concert

Friends of Skinner West is excited to announce a fun community partnership and fundraiser with the developers of 1400 W. Monroe who will be sponsoring both an art contest for our students and a chance to paint a mural on their existing building.

Students are invited to submit their artwork and 6 young artists will be chosen to have their art sketched onto the walls of the building at 1400 W. Monroe by artist Jason Watts. Students and the community are then invited to help paint the art on June 22nd (rain date June 23rd) from 10am-3pm. The cost to paint is $5 and all donations will be matched by 1400 W. Monroe. All proceeds will be donated to Friends of Skinner West.

This is a great way to showcase your young artist while helping beautify our community and helping our school. We hope to see you there! More information can be found here.
