Skinner's 3rd Annual Diwali Celebration

Students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade danced, sang, and shared about Diwali at Skinner West's 3rd Annual Diwali Celebration last week.  The Diwali Celebration was presented by the Skinner West BAC.
Aryan (a 5th grader) prepared and read these remarks about Diwali:

*   Diwali is the festival which leads us all into truth and light and is celebrated on a wide-scale in India.

*   Diwali symbolizes the age old culture of India. It teaches us to vanquish evil and to drive away darkness that covers the light of knowledge.

*   The word "Diwali" means "row of lights."

*   It is a five-day long festival. (This year Diwali started on October 19, 2017)

*   Houses get decorated using lights. Everywhere looks very dazzling.

*   "Tamso Ma Jyotirgamaya" - which means that where there is darkness, light is needed.

Thank you to Ms. Jayasree Sathish for organizing all the parents and students who helped make this day such a success! Student performers included:
Pranav J.
Aryan N.
Saanvi L.
Arnav J.
Arjun N.
Raajit R.

Special thanks Mrs. Clark, Mrs. Robinson, Ms. Westy, Mr. Johnson, and Ms. Maldonado for helping to coordinate.
