Please send your child to school on Friday, March 9th, with filled out Cookie Dough Fundraiser packets in their backpack!
Parents can then pick up ordered cookie dough on report card pickup day, April 18th.

How does the PTO support Skinner?

As our kids sell cookies to friends, family and neighbors, you may be wondering "Where does the money go?" The Skinner West PTO Forum sponsors classroom projects and extra-curricular activities.

PTO-sponsored projects include classroom SRA kits, a laminator for the library, a mini-fridge for a special education classroom, seed kits for a botany unit, the Ghana dance troupe, the spring ball for the 7th & 8th grades and sponsorship of the Skinner West track team.

How can I support the PTO?

The PTO hopes to provide even more grants going forward, and we need your help! Parents - please help your child with their fundraising efforts.
In addition to participating in fundraisers,  you can get involved by volunteering at a PTO event or making a donation at
Teachers - please contact Ms. Clark and the PTO with your ideas so we can sponsor your project!

Classroom Connections from Skinner's Library
Kindergarten has been learning about book awards during library class, including the Caldecott and Coretta Scott King awards. The students have explored different titles and illustration styles through a variety of literary formats, including read-alouds, e-books, and story videos.

Ask a kindergarten student their thoughts on illustrations from Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are (Caldecott, 1964), Peggy Rathman's Officer Buckle and Gloria (Caldecott,1996), Dan Santat's Adventure's of Beekle (Caldecott, 2015) or Ashley Bryan's Beautiful Blackbird (Corretta Scott King Illustrator Award, 2004),

Below are pictures of Ms. Growe's Kindergarten class trying out Ashley Bryan's cut paper illustration style.

Celebrating African-American Music and Musicians. The singers rehearsed together with students from Lenart Regional Gifted Center and Providence St Mel school, preparing songs and getting coaching on vocal technique. They were led in a Vocal Solo Clinic by tenor Cornelius Johnson, who demonstrated opera and musical theater styles, fielded questions about his career as a singer, and led the group in an upbeat spiritual from the piano. Participants then had a Choral Clinic with composer/conductor Rollo Dillworth, followed by a performance of his compositions by the massed workshop chorus.
