Look for a cookie dough fundraiser packet to come home with your student this week!

This is Skinner West PTO's biggest fundraiser of the year, because everybody loves cookies! Students have a sweet time selling cookies to their family, friends and neighbors, all for a good cause: supporting our school. 

Cookie dough packets are due back March 9th
Cookie dough will be picked up along with report cards on April 18th

Next PTO Meeting on Tuesday, February 27th, at 6pm

This Weekend Chicago Architecture Foundation's Engineering Fest

Celebrate National Engineers Week with the Chicago Architecture Foundation's annual Engineering Fest. 

Drop in any time this weekend (Feb. 24 and 25) between 10am-3pm to explore Chicago's tallest skyscrapers through FREE activities for ages 5-12. 

All activities will take place at CAF, in the historic Railway Exchange building on Michigan Avenue.


Join more than 1,500 visitors for a weekend full of hands on, family-friendly engineering explorations, including:


* Build your own skyscraper to take home or add to CAF's collaborative city.

* Meet design professionals and learn how they design and build tall skyscrapers.

* Join CAF on a building expedition and learn how to "read" a building.

* Take a photo in our skyscraper-themed photo booth.

* Use CAF's interactive self-guided tour to see Chicago's iconic skyscrapers in person

Kindergarten and Ms. O'Connor's Classes Wore Red in Support of Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) Awareness Week

The entire Kindergarten classes and Ms. O'Connor's class wore red today to kick off Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) Awareness week.   

Zoe Reyes is a Kindergartner in Mrs. Priola's class affected with heart defects.   

Facts: Every 1 in 110 babies born are born with heart defects.   CHD's are the most common birth defects.  Approximately 2-3 million individuals are thought to be living in the United States with CHD's.  Surgery is often not a cure for CHD's and many people have lifelong issues

LSC COMMUNITY REPRESENTATIVE VACANCY 
There is a Local School Council Community Representative Vacancy at Skinner West Elementary.  Applications will be available in the school's main office at 1260 W. Adams and the deadline is Thursday, Feb. 22 at 4:00 p.m.  Interested candidates are invited to speak at the LSC meeting on Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m.  The community representative candidate will be voted in by the current members of the LSC.
