Spring Book Fair: May 18th - 25th books

The Spring Book Fair will be May 18th - 25th. Help setting up is needed on May 17th, and adult helpers are needed to assist student shoppers May 18th - 25th.

On April 7, 2018, six Skinner West Superstars advanced to the Chicago/
Metro Final History Fair Competition at Lane Tech High School.

  • Bryce W. and Myles W.: Civil Rights Movement of the 50s and 60s, Impact on life for Blacks in Chicago
  • Patrick  C.: A Nation Divided 
  • Jessica P.: Why Drink Poison 
  • Lola P.: Documentary 1968 Democratic National Convention:  Chicago Riots to Political Reform

On April 7th, twelve of our Superstars competed in the Chicago Invention Convention (out of 3,000 inventions across the city). We are pleased to announce the following:

1st Place (3rd Gr.) - Hockey Jockey by Asher L.
2nd Place (3rd Gr.) - Perpetualite by Emika M.
3rd Place (3rd Gr.) - Hair's Everything by Sophia K.

Honorable Mention (3rd Gr.) - Healthy Hound by Katie B.
Honorable Mention (3rd Gr.) - The Spongeboard by Ethan T.
Honorable Mention (3rd Gr.) - The Bunion Straightener 2.0 by Gianni M.

Skinner West swept for 3rd Grade! Great Job Superstars!

Asher L., Emika M., and Sophia K. will have a chance to represent Illinois at the National Student Invention Convention in late May/early June.

Classroom Connection: KDG Earth Day Clean Up!Growe
 
Ms. Growe's kindergarten has been learning about Earth Day and the importance of keeping the Earth clean as well as caring for the environment. They spent some time working together this week to clean up Skinner Park!

Superstars Summer Camp's registration period opens on Monday, April 23rd! In order to register this year, parents will have to complete a registration form and submit one week's payment to be counted toward their summer balance.
