Skinner West Debate Team ResultsDebate

The Skinner West Debate Team participated in the Chicago Middle School Debate League's Tournament Five for the 2017-2018 season on Saturday, March 17.

The overall topic for the year is: 'Government Funding and Regulation of Education in the United States', and the cases being debated at this Tournament were 'Federal Funding Inequality', 'English Language Learners', and 'STEM'. Additionally, the Skinner West Debate Team researched and prepared their own case, 'IDEA'.

28 different schools and 120 teams competed to be the best in the city, but even at the largest Urban Debate League in the entire nation, our students stood out. The students did a great job against some tough competition and won many awards.

Some highlights we would especially like to point out at the Team Level:

1) We had four of the Top 8 teams in the Novice Division

2) We had three of the Top 8 teams in the JV Division

3) FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW, SKINNER WEST WON THE VARSITY DIVISION, AND ARE THE 2017-2018 CITY CHAMPIONS!
