Classroom Connections
Sixth Grade  - Ms. Melendez
Melendez

Upon our return from Winter Break, we began, along with the 7th and 8th grades, to delve into the annual Chicago History Fair. This year's theme was "Taking a Stand in History."  Both competing and non-competing students did extensive research on a history topic of their choice dating back to twenty years or more.  They developed research questions, claims and arguments and provided evidence to support their statements.  Finally, they created either an exhibit, documentary, website or essay to share their work.

Five of our Superstars were selected to go on to the regional junior division Chicago History Fair hosted at Lane Tech High School on April 22nd. At this moment four of those students are confirmed to move forward to the state level competition in Springfield. We are incredibly proud of all the hard work each student has done and know that this year's project will serve as the foundation for awesome History Fair assignments to come.  Great job , Superstars!
Congratulations to History Fair Winners!
