Parents, if you have not completed the 2017 My Voice, My School Parent/Guardian Survey, please do so by April 30th.  The survey takes about 10-15 minutes to complete and is available in several languages. It is completely anonymous. To complete the survey online, click HERE.  The annual My Voice My School Parent survey is an incredible opportunity for parents' important perspective to be heard. We appreciate all parents who take a few moments to participate in the My Voice My School Parent survey. Survey results are used along with teacher and student input to evaluate a school's effectiveness .

Student Council presents.... OPEN GYM for all 4th Graders!  On Wednesday, April 26th, the Skinner West Student Council will hold an open gym event for the fourth grade.  A permission slip will go home this week and the cost is $3 per student.  Attending students should report to the gym after school and sit on the bleachers to wait for the STAR groups to get picked up.  The event will end at 5:30, so parents please be prompt in picking up your Superstars.

Ms. O'Brien and Ms. Wardanian's classes started Dance Therapy at Hubbard Street Dance Studio this week.  This is an awesome opportunity for our Superstars to express themselves through dance. The classes run for six weeks and the students learn dance terms, adapted movements, floor work and a class dance to preform at the end.    We are so thankful to Gallery 111 for making this possible through their sponsorship.

Important News about NWEA MAP Testmaps

This week, CPS Chief Education Officer Janice Jackson has announced that CPS will continue using the Northwest Evaluation Association's Measures of Academic Progress (NWEA MAP) test, pending board approval, as the 'high stakes'  test in our district. As in recent years, it will be used for: (1) the School Quality Rating Policy (SQRP), (2) selective enrollment, and (3) for promotion in grades 3, 6, and 8. To read the the entire letter, please click here.

PTO Forum - Please Support Skinner WestPTO

Please read this important letter from Mrs. Clark. Our Forum/PTO desparately needs your support to help Skinner West augment the funding cuts we've seen this year.  PTO continually funds classroom programming and technology that CPS funding does not.
