Classroom Connection: Ms. Melendez Melendez

Upon our return from Winter break, our 6th  grade class jumped right into our novel study of  "The Breadwinner" by Deborah Ellis.   We have created many self-to-text and self-to-world connections using the book's themes of determination and responsibility.  Using several current events, students have examined the differences between rights and privileges, women's roles in different cultures and the importance of a call to action.

In the weeks to come students will be creating their Amazon Novel Reviews to showcase their understanding of elements in a story to wrap up our unit!
