mosaic
Be sure to check out the second phase of the mosaic! Our 7th & 8th grade students partnered with Green Star Movement to cut and place the tiles to create this beautiful installation. Thanks to everyone who supported the project by purchasing tiles and donating to Gallery 111 throughout the year, it is because of you we can do projects like this. For all of you interested in tiles, Gallery 111 will be sending home information in the fall to be a part of phase 3!!!

Here is a recent letter, sent to parents/guardians, from the Chief Executive Officer of CPS:

On May 31st, lawmakers in Springfield ended their spring legislative session without passing a budget.

There's no question that this result is disappointing. There's also no question that this result cannot dampen our fight. Not when we've seen so many working to reform education funding, and not when there's so much at stake.

Over the course of the spring, lawmakers in both the Senate and the House introduced legislation that would improve the state's unequal education funding approach - more progress than we've seen in years.

And with their votes last night, members of our Chicago delegation showed overwhelming support for our schools.

On behalf of thousands of students, parents, families and communities, we are asking that the General Assembly continue to stay in session until an education budget is passed. We also urge Governor Rauner to work with lawmakers to actually fully and equitably fund education for children throughout the state.

Our fight for equal funding will continue, and the elected officials who stood with us on Tuesday have a crucial role in the weeks ahead as we work towards funding equality for all Illinois students.

I hope you'll take a moment to thank them now: http://actnow.io/KXr03QI

Thank you,
Forrest
