Discriminating against Chicago's children is wrong.

Our students need your voice. Without action in Springfield, our classrooms are at risk.

CPS students make up 20% of the state's enrollment, Chicagoans contribute 20% of the state income tax -yet our students receive only 15% of the state's total funding.

The missing 5% is nearly $500 million this year alone -- enough to save our teachers and class sizes.

The Fourth Graders and the Fine Arts

The fourth grade classes had an amazing opportunity to attend a special event held at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for a program entitled, Spanish Rhythm and Dance. In honor of the CSO celebrating its 125th year, dancers from Ensemble Espanol joined the orchestra to perform a concert of Spanish music and dance. A very special thanks to Ms. Maatouk for another enriching experience that was both educational and entertaining.

Each fourth grade class has created an original piece of art for Gallery 111's 13th Annual Gala auction. The children painted mini-watercolors based on the poem, Ode to Common Things by Pablo Neruda. Your bid could win you a class collage, accompanied by a book of student-created poems based on their painted pictures. The gala is on Saturday, May 21st, and tickets are currently on sale here. Much appreciation goes to Ms. Bovit for her tireless efforts in getting the projects completed.
