This year's Gallery 111 Gala will be on Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 7:00 -10:00pm at the National Museum of Mexican Art. Join fellow parents, Skinner faculty and staff, and Skinner community members for an evening of fundraising, food, drinks, music and a silent auction to benefit Skinner West art programs. Our Special Olympic Athletes

This past week Ms. O'Brien and Ms. Hill's classes participated in Special Olympics!  Opening ceremonies were held at Soldier Field! A big congratulations to our athletes who completed and won medals, the include:

Dariyae W., 2nd place finisher in 50M run
Leslie G., 2nd place finisher in 50M run
Benjamin B., 1st place finisher in 50M run, 5th place finisher in the Softball Throw
Jardin L., 1st place finisher in 50M run, 1st place finisher in the Shot Put
Jarius L., 1st place finisher in 50M run, 2nd place finisher in the Shot Put
George M., 1st place finisher in 50M run, 1st place in the Softball Throw

Skinner Superstar Spotlight

Our 8th grader Michelle Z. wrote a compelling essay for Facing History and Ourselves Nationwide Student Essay Contest.

Nearly 4,000 7th-12th grade students from across the U.S. submitted an essay. Only 14 were selected and Michelle was the youngest finalist. Michelle received a $100.00 award and certificate of participation. Congratulations, Michelle!!! Thank you to all that supported Michelle!

Dash for the Stash Contest

If you missed the opportunity to play the Dash for the Stash Contest during Money Smart Week Family Fun Night, Friday, April 29th, the posters are still being displayed in the gym. Karate Summer Camp with Sensei JP 
 
Registration is now open for Karate Summer Camp at Skinner West. Camp dates are: July 5th - August 5th. Hours are 9:00 - 4:45 Monday - Friday..... drop off from 8:30, pick-up as late as 5:30 at no additional charge. This summer we will offer Traditional Shorei Ryu Karate, Ashtanga Yoga, Crossfit Kids & weekly field trips.. Fee is $950 for all 5 weeks. Click here for more information or use the links below.
