Stewards of Skinner West Update

Dear Parents,

Thanks to all who have supported the development of our new school-wide initiative, Stewards of Skinner West.

This effort is definitely a marathon, not a sprint, but we are chipping away very nicely.

Many children are becoming invested in creating and maintaining cleanliness in and around the school.

We may need more cleaning supplies in the coming months, as we are putting the ones that have been donated thus far to good use!

And please check out our new bulletin board, located in the stairwell adjacent to the Lost & Found area.

Skinner Summer Camp is back for summer 2016! With the blessing of Mrs. Clark & Mrs. Robinson, we have created Superstars Summer Camp Inc. This entity will be separate from Chicago Public Schools and it will allow us to create an even more memorable experience for our campers while still providing the convenience of being housed at Skinner.

We will provide eight weeks of summer fun starting on Monday, June 27th lasting through Friday, August 19th. Keep an eye out for registration information and our camp calendar in the next few weeks. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to us individually or contact the camp at with any questions or concerns.

Last week after school, Mrs. Christiansen took 16 Seventh Grade Superstar Girls to "Made With Code", a program started by Google to encourage young girls to explore computer science and coding. Our girls were treated to a lovely evening  which included snacking on delicious food, creating unique hearts through computer coding, and capturing all the fun with a photo booth. Their positive statements of love and encouragement will be seen on digital billboards throughout the city and their heart designs will appear on a kiosk  set-up in the Thompson Center. The event was held at the West Loop Google Office.
